A brief history of the success of “How Can You Mend a Broken Heart”
On this day in 1971, the Bee Gees’ hit song “How Can You Mend a Broken Heart” from their ninth studio album Trafalgar jumped from number six to number one on the Billboard Hot 100 Charts. The song was the group’s first number 1 hit in the United States and remained at number one for 4 weeks! “How Can You Mend a Broken Heart” also appears on the soundtrack for the 2013 award winning film, American Hustle.
After the release of “How Can You Mend a Broken Heart”, it was nominated for a GRAMMY alongside George Harrison’s “My Sweet Lord”.
